A little more trumpet blowing...

For the first time in the history of Just Cook It, you can now read one of my recipes on the BBC Food website.

The roasted lamb rump with spiced date puree, glazed carrots and cinnamon cous cous that I cooked for the critics is available right here. Here’s hoping you like it as much as Jay Rayner et al did.

If you do try the recipe, don’t feel the presentation has to be fine-dining: it can easily serve as a hearty lunch or supper for a hungry mob – a big pile of cous cous topped with pink lamb and glazed carrots then smothered with a sticky lamb gravy. A nice twist on an Easter classic.

If you’ve still not had your MasterChef fill, there is also an interview with the three finalists in today’s Express.

The final starts tomorrow at 9pm on BBC1 with the most incredible on-location challenge that the show has ever featured: cooking breakfast al fresco battling 40 degree heat in a 500 year old mountain top castle. In Rajasthan, India. Oh, and we cook for some royalty, too. Don’t miss it.

I am so incredibly frustrated over the complete inability to watch any of this unfold thanks to the damned BBC's insistence on restricting online content to the UK only.

Nevertheless, here's to your continued success as I bow in honour of your awesomeness.

I'm so excited about that recipe - I thought your date concoction that it was sitting on sounded really good and I was going to ask if you'd share!

I loved your pithy comment about victory being "icing on a cake", but you don't mind losing because you "still have a cake". Fantastic. Can I steal it? :) Congratulations, of course, very well done, and all the best. Oh: and I think I would love your blue cheese ice cream.

Hi Alex!
I wanted to congratulate you on your smashing performance on Masterchef. I just saw the final and even if you didn't win the first place, I think you did a stunning job! This was the best final ever on MC.
All the best for your career.

Just watched the final and spotted the name of your blog. Think this seemed to be the closest final yet so congratulations, I was completely in awe of everything the three of you were doing - looking forward to seeing what you do next.

Watching the Masterchef final as I'm typing this. I'm at the final judging round and I was so indignant after hearing John and Gregg's comments on your dessert that I had to come here and say something.

I don't think your dessert concept was off at all! I had a lovely dessert of the same pear-caramel-blue cheese-walnut combination at Simon Radley's (rising 2*) just last week and I thought it worked brilliantly. Especially the blue cheese. (Although the blue cheese was sprinkled on top of a pear delice, the ice cream was walnut.)

Loved watching you on Masterchef, keep cooking! Will check out the rest of your blog now :)

Hello, Alex - commiserations on not getting the final prize on Masterchef last night, but buckets of congratulations for the joy and inspiration you must have given to so many people over the past weeks. I've been glued to each episode, rooting particularly for you and Dhruv, and becoming more and more impressed by your skill and sincerity. I'm sure your journey with food will continue to be an adventure and pleasure for you and the many people who will follow it. And thank you for this blog too. All good wishes.

Congratulations on reaching the final and cooking so brilliantly. You were my favourite finalist and I loved your use of offal, the public should embrace it more readily!
Are you considering opening your own restaurant? If so, I will be there on opening night!

Hey Alex.

Great blog buddy. Me and my lou was on the edge of our seets last night in the final. Am sorry to see you lose out though.

I always said to Lou over these past weeks you would get to the final and perhaps win. I was deffo rooting for you buddy but it seems the best man won. Fair play to him hey!

Looks like you will still have to carry on writing for now. By the way me and you are in the same game. well kinda. I am Phillip a 30 somthing blogger from Birmingam just to let you know!

Was just wondering if you have thought about going down the self hosted blog route yet? if so then let me know I can really help you out!

let me know if you open a resturant anyway so we can pop down.

All the Best

-Phillip

What ho old bean,

Just adding to the congrats (although from not nearly as exciting an international a base as most of the rest!).

Was super to see you doing so well, and the very best of luck for the future (are Granite's rumours of a restaurant venture really true?)

Keep up the good work,

Paulo (Davies)

Many congratulations on a stellar performance! I thought your dessert looked lovely - but then, I've had a blue cheese pannacotta rejected by my mean husband, so I understand how divisive it can be.

Meanwhile, Charlotte is absolutely gorgeous! You are a lucky man.
